Low level laser therapy has many uses depending on the type of light used, the wavelength and the delivery method. In the case of most animals, light therapy is most commonly used to help accelerate wound and muscle healing, and assist with the main ailment of pain.

Whilst light therapy can be used on existing issues, it can also be used on areas prone to strain. The part of the cell that benefits from the light therapy is called the 'mitochondria'.

When the mitochondria absorbs the light therapy, they produce certain substances that provide an energy source to the cells, along with promoting protein production and growth of cells and support systems.

WLP (wave, light, pulse) provides local therapy to a specific area using infrared and red light therapy along with the PEMF (pulse electromagnetic frequency). It can be used on areas vulnerable to injury, depending on the horses workload.

Infrared and red light of the correct wavelength applied for the correct duration can help to stimulate body cells and this can be targeted to a specific area. PEMF therapy works on a cellular repair level stimulating cells to work more efficiently and repair quicker.
